Test results will help determine any strengths/weakness.
Should there be any topic areas that require review, we have course materials that you can purchase for studying.

If you hold a valid recognized credential, and want an Alberta document that says you do, you may apply for an Alberta document that indicates you hold a recognized credential and are allowed to work in a particular trade or branch of a trade. Use the Equivalency Application.

Saskatchewan does not offer an apprenticeship for Concrete Finisher.
So how do I become an apprentice in Saskatchewan, if the “Concrete Finisher” is no longer a recognized trade in Sask?

Once the apprentice is registered, she or he is responsible for:
You first need to register through the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship board to become a Concrete Finisher in Alberta.
Different zones and districts have different codes, therefore you need to get the applicable code through Saskatchewan Apprenticeship board.
They will monitor your Blue book and hours. Schooling/training will then be done in Alberta.

Important Changes to the Concrete Finisher Regulation
On June 20th, 2012, the Manitoba government registered a revised regulation for the trade of concrete finisher outlining changes in scope of the trade, term of apprenticeship and wages rates.

Concrete finisher is a recognized trade in Manitoba and Training is provided through Manitoba Trades to all that qualify
However Manitoba has no localized Training so those requiring Concrete finisher training must attend training in Alberta through SAIT, Manitoba Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade for Manitoba, will provide provisions for accommodations, transportation, and living allowance for those who qualify to attend training in Alberta
Reminder the Local will reimburse 90% of your fees upon completion with a valid Certification and receipts.

Journeymen must :
Have 5500 hours of work experience
Be recognized by an employer as a journeyman,
Paid journeyman rate
The company must attach a letter that states that you worked at a competent journeyman level

The term of apprenticeship is 3 years.
Year 1 = 4 weeks technical training + minimum 1200 hours on-the-job training
Year 2 = 4 weeks technical training + minimum 1200 hours on-the-job training + you write the Inter-provincial and Red Seal Certification exams.
Year 3 = You must work an additional 1200 hours of on-the-job field experience.
Assuming you have PASSED your exams, you submit your additional hours to the government.
Once approved, then you get your journey certifications.
